BOB TREVAIL MARKS 70TH BIRTHDAY WITH TOUCH TOURNAMENT

Perranporth Rugby Club celebrated local legend Bob Trevail’s 70th birthday on Saturday with an invitational touch tournament held at The Droop.

Players from the local community including 1st XV Brewers players and Colts representatives turned up for a day of touch rugby to mark the occasion.
Trevail, who has been playing for Perranporth for well over 35 years now, arrived fashionably late before getting stuck in with the games.
The group, made up of over 50 players, was split into four teams, with two pitches set out for games. Social distancing and sanitation measures were observed throughout the day.
Colts players from Penryn and Perranporth, who weren’t even born when Bob first played for the club, also joined in with the fun.
Club Chairman Steve Arthur has played alongside Trevail for many of his playing years both at Perranporth and Newquay Hornets:
“Bob is a great servant to Perranporth. Ever since he joined us he has been passionate about the game and the club.
He added, “You never worry about him when he runs onto the pitch. He can certainly handle himself and he’s shown that time and time again”.
After the tournament, players headed up to the clubhouse for a few drinks and to hand out some end-of-season awards.
Bob received the ‘Most Improved Legend’ award, while Will McRitchie took home the ‘Players’ Player’ award, voted for by his fellow Brewers teammates. Bob would like to thank everyone for coming along and helping to make it such an enjoyable day:
He said “It was good to see so many people here today. We’re a close community here and we always have fun at Perranporth”.
Here’s to more years of having fun Bob. Happy birthday from everyone at Perranporth Rugby Club.
